In Hindu mythology Shivratri Puja
has been given great significance. According to Shiva Purana, Lord Shiva
yields merits including spiritual growth for the devotees. According to
Hindu mythology performing abhisheka of Shiva Linga with six different
dravyas including milk, yoghurt, honey, ghee, sugar and water while
chanting Sri Rudram, Chamakam and Dasa Shanthi pleases Lord Shiva the
most. Each of these dravyas used in the abhisheka blesses a unique
quality, milk for the blessing of purity and piousness, Yogurt for
prosperity and progeny; Honey for sweet speech, Ghee is victory, Sugar
for happiness, and Water for purity.
Shivratri Puja is a famous and important festival of Hindus. On the
festival of Shivratri we are worship of lord Shiva. Shivratri festival
is also considered to be extremely positive for women. For married women
pray to Shiva offer the well being of the male persons in the family
(husbands and sons), and for unmarried women pray for an early marriage
with husband like Lord Shiva.
