Navratri 2012: Importance Navratri Puja and rituals

As the name signifies, ‘Nav’ and ‘Ratri’ simply means the nine nights. A large number of intellectuals and scholars of the Vedic Science also prefer to get bestowed with her blessings on this grand occasion. While celebrating the festival, the idol of the goddess is dressed and well groomed in white saree. The goddess is mounted on a swan which is also pure white in color.
The priocess of rigorous fast is also performed by the devotees. Many people who do have a very high zeal about the festival and strong faith in it perform the fast all the nine days. While some of the people prefer to keep the fast for the first and last day only. There are certain criteria of performing the fast and it is significant for the people to understand well about the same in advance in order to get the most fruitful results.
The navratri festival 2012will be performed this year and be concluded on the occasion of Mahanavami like every year. The Kanya Pujan will also be performed after that. This year also the festival falls in between September – October and will be celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm.
