Shravan Month 2011-- How to do Shiva Puja
It is said to be in hindu mythology that Shravan month is one of the very auspicious and holiest month which is mainly dedicated to Shiva. Many ceremonies and festivals are celebrated during this month. According to hindu calander in North India shravan month will begin on 16th of July 2011 and remain till 13th of August 2011. Where as in Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Karnataka Shravan month will start on 16th of July and will end on 29th of August 2011. ‘Shravan ke Somvaar’ on Mondays of this month are very famous as Lord Shiva is worshipped on this day. Many things like milk, holy water, flowers, Bel-fruit, Bel-patra etc. are used for worshipping Lord Shiva. Even the devotees observe fast on Monday known as Shravan ke Somvaar Vrat.
Krishna paksha of shravan starts on 16th of July 2011 according to Traditional Calendar of North India and remains till 30th of July 2011. Shukla Pakhsa of Shravan starts on 31st of July 2011 and remains till 13th of August 2011.
